lore

"supportundergroundlifting" was coined by a kid who felt he did not fit into any boxes within the fitness space. He grew up in a way distinctly different from his peers, he found the gym not through influence but through necessity. A kid who for a long time felt outcasted, unable to relate due to his upbringing and eclectic nature. He refused to shape his character and interests to better fit the meta and give in to circulating trends.

The pseudo-frat culture of the modern fitness industry was never welcoming.

This is not an uncommon trope in the fitness scene. We all feel like outcasts, some even feel like wolves among sheep (lol). But none of these groups that coin themselves as different truly set themselves apart from the rest, they just wear it like a badge. It's trendy to be different, everybody wants to be different, but not many have and will truly live that out by tapping into their obscurities. Not everyone has had to rip their own life out of the ground with their own two hands.

The underground lifter is not a wolf among sheep, they are not someone desperately trying to be different. They are someone who came from below the line. Even if that place was not pretty, it is their origin and stays with them in some form to this day.

This is for the fat kid, the emo kid, the kid with the fucked up haircut, the kid who couldn't afford cool clothes, the kid who was too skinny, the kid who had a funny accent, the kid who couldn't bring friends over, the kid with a disability, the kid who listens to Tool, the kid who sat alone at lunch and recess.

This is for the kid who had come from below.

There is a special place in their heart for their origin, that is the underground.
